Which guns can I import to the U.S.A.?

You can import items that are classified as sporting firearms, for example: a target or hunting rifle in Caliber .50 or less can in most cases be imported, a shotgun that you would be allowed to shoot clays with on a public range or a shotgun for hunting. Under the National Firearms Act (NFA), there are a number of weapons that legally we cannot import: • Military surplus firearms, however, some may be exempt if designated as Curios & Relics • Machine guns • Rifles with barrels under 16" or shotguns with barrels under 18" • Silencers — please ask your seller to remove these before they are shipped • Any firearm that is inherently non-sporting In addition, firearms manufactured in either Russia or China are prohibited from import.

How many items can I import?

In theory, there's no federal limit on how many items you can import. However, some states impose their own restrictions on the number or type of firearms you may own. Generally, shotguns and sporting or hunting rifles are less restricted than handguns. Before making a purchase, please speak with us — it's important that you review your state's laws to ensure compliance.

How long does it take to import a gun?

Accepted Answer

If you're importing a shotgun or rifle from the UK to the USA, please allow approximately eight to twelve weeks for the entire process — from submitting your import permit application to the issuance of the UK export license. We operate a consolidated shipping service every four to six weeks.

What details do you need from me so that you can begin the process?

We require an invoice from the seller with your details that includes your name, address, contact phone number, or a Pro-Forma invoice if it is a personal transaction (a template can be requested). The details that we need are: • Make • Model • Caliber/Gauge • Barrel length • Overall length • Country of manufacture • Date of manufacture • Price paid/valued at (this is important for insurance purposes) • Whether the item comes in a hard case or cardboard carton If you are sending the firearm to our UK warehouse by courier, this must be sent from a gun shop or dealer near you.

Can you send a firearm directly to me?

Licensed Firearms imported into the USA follow the same rules as domestic purchases: they are delivered to your chosen Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer, who completes Form 4473 and the required background check before you take ownership. If you hold an FFL or a C&R license, we can arrange a dealer-to-dealer transfer directly to you. Items that do not require a license in the USA — such as Antiques, Replicas, and certain airguns — can be delivered directly to your home. Please note that Antiques and air rifles/pistols that do not require licenses still cannot be shipped from the U.K. via courier services such as DHL or FedEx due to U.K. restrictions; MGI moves them on our consolidated air freight service instead. We also ship from the USA to other countries for repairs, returns, and similar moves. Those shipments are quoted for the job — there is no fixed price.
